Not in Employment Education or Training

SAMEE is offering a fully-resourced and structured package of support for young people who are not in education, employment or training.

This programme provides the opportunity to build upon communication, holistic, employability and self-employment skills alongside working towards social justice outcomes and units from our level 1 NCFE Steps into Self-Employment qualification..

Our objectives for this programme are for the young person to:

Develop the skills needed to support them with living their best life
Become an active member within their local community
Develop confidence in their own ability
Explore the creation of an independent and sustainable income through work-based opportunities

As part of our online induction process, we complete a vocational profiling exercise with the young person along with an assessment of need for their reasonable adjustments. This enhances our ability, as mentors, to demonstrate any distance travelled and to celebrate every small step and achievement.

Each young person will complete education, skills and work-based activities, which will be supported by an experienced mentor, to ensure that their personalised learning style and long-term career goals are achieved. Whilst in the work-based activities, the young person will comply with real job conditions such as diary management, timekeeping and dress code.

As our programme is individually tailored to the educational and holistic needs of each person, we co-create a personal journey and timeline which is also discussed and agreed with their circle of support, if required. Working to meet the individual outcomes through consistent learning-by-doing activities and the aspirations of the young person means that we are able to offer a truly bespoke approach which is both relevant and achievable.

Self-Employment & ME . . .

Disabled people in work are more likely to go into self-employment than non-disabled people in work.

Disabled entrepreneurs are an essential part of the UK economy, with disabled-owned small businesses accounting for 8.6 per cent of the turnover of all UK businesses.

Self-Employment as an option is sometimes because of a lack of appropriate employment prospects available from employers.

Additionally many disabled entrepreneurs choose self-employment to fill a gap in the market, or simply in order to have more choice together with control over their own time.
